The synagogue of Hammat Tiberias, near the Tiberias Lake, is one of Israel’s major monuments, both for its topographic location and the zodiacal iconography of its mosaic pavement.

During a bungled attempt to repair the wooden roof above it, the mosaic was damaged by infiltration of paint and chemical substances which seriously threatened its stability.

The CCA’s treatment consisted of removing the pollutants, cleaning and consolidation of the surfaces so that the monument could again be opened to the public.
