The new edition of MCC MOSAIKON courses started today, on the 17th of March 2016.
Mosaic Conservation Course 2016-1 is part of MOSAIKON, an international program for the conservation of mosaics in the Mediterranean area.
This course is part of the specialization phase of MCC, aimed to professional conservators that have already successfully completed previous MCC training courses.
This module comes with great and exciting news: the course location will be the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ephesus, in Turkey!
Indeed, MCC 2016-1 is realized in collaboration with the Austrian Archaeological Institute (OAI), which is hosting us in the Excavation House in Selcuk, Turkey.
As usual for MCC courses, there will be a combination of theoretical lessons and workshops and practical mosaic conservation work to be undertaken in Terrace House 2 in Ephesus.
Two conservator-restorers from the Department of Antiquities of Jordan and three from the Institute National du Patrimoine of Tunisia arrived yesterday in Selcuk and will stay until the 11th of May.
In few weeks they will be joined by their colleagues and fellow MCC participants from Jordan and Libya to attend the final stage of the MCC 2015-2016 program: a four-week long on site project that will focus on practical mosaic conservation.
